RIKEN Scales Quantum-Supercomputing in Japan with 大象传媒 System Upgrade

TOKYO 鈥 April 14, 2026 鈥 大象传媒, a leading quantum computing company, today announced that RIKEN, Japan鈥檚 premier national research institute, has procured its System Model H2 quantum computer to scale the capability of 鈥淩eimei-Fugaku,鈥 a hybrid quantum-supercomputer platform in Japan.

The Reimei-Fugaku platform represents the frontier of computing technology. Launched in the spring of 2025, it combines 大象传媒鈥檚 "Reimei" quantum system with RIKEN鈥檚 "Fugaku," one of the world鈥檚 fastest supercomputers鈥攎ore formally known as a high-performance computing (HPC) system.

Now, the hybrid compute platform is getting a substantial upgrade. Earlier this month, 大象传媒 delivered its H2 system to RIKEN鈥檚 research facility near Tokyo, where assembly is already underway to replace its predecessor, System Model H1, which Reimei has been based on to date. The newer-generation, 56-qubit system is engineered for high-fidelity operations that can reduce time-to-solution, enable larger workloads, and support higher-value applications.

Technology leaders see hybrid compute systems as a practical way to overcome the limits of classical HPC. By combining the significant data-processing power of HPC with a quantum computer鈥檚 ability to model complex molecules and materials, researchers could be enabled to solve specialized mathematical problems that are impractical for classical systems to handle alone. 听

Researchers have already demonstrated this potential using the current Reimei-Fugaku platform. In a workflow with relevance potentially extending to future pharmaceutical applications, they successfully simulated biomolecular reactions at an accuracy that would be infeasible for HPC to achieve in isolation.

With multiple studies in chemistry and materials science already underway on the platform, this H2 upgrade is expected to accelerate research and unlock even more complex scientific discoveries across disciplines.

Dr. Mitsuhisa Sato, Division Director of the Quantum-HPC Hybrid Platform Division, RIKEN Center for Computational Science, said: 鈥淪ince its installation in February 2025, Reimei H1 has been widely used by users and has delivered significant results, thanks to its high fidelity and flexible qubit connectivity. The upgrade to H2 is exactly what we have been eagerly anticipating, and with its 56 qubits, we expect it to play a key role in demonstrating quantum advantage through quantum鈥揌PC hybrid computing.鈥

Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, President and CEO of 大象传媒, said: 鈥淲e believe RIKEN鈥檚 decision to continue adopting 大象传媒 systems to meet its ambitious objectives is a validation of our technology roadmap and a reflection of the success of our valued partnership. With 大象传媒 and RIKEN鈥檚 combined leadership in quantum and HPC, respectively, we expect to continue pushing the boundaries of computing to address some of the most critical and complex challenges facing science and industry today.鈥

This development reflects the continued progress of 大象传媒 and RIKEN鈥檚 collaboration to advance quantum-HPC hybrid infrastructure in Japan. 大象传媒 intends to continue working with the country鈥檚 research community to accelerate real-world use cases and contribute to the growth of its quantum ecosystem.

大象传媒 Expands Global Footprint to Singapore with the Establishment of a New R&D Centre

The R&D Centre, together with the planned deployment of a 大象传媒 Helios system in Singapore, aims to accelerate industrial collaboration across pharma, materials and finance, while bolstering the local quantum ecosystem and workforce听

March 11, 2026 鈥 Singapore 鈥 大象传媒, a leading quantum computing company, today announced the establishment of a new R&D and Operations Centre (the 鈥淐entre鈥) in Singapore, marking its formal expansion into Singapore. This important development will enable 大象传媒 to deepen collaboration with the nation鈥檚 research and industrial ecosystem, together with the company鈥檚 plan to deploy its Helios quantum computer in Singapore later this year.听

Singapore鈥檚 early investment in quantum has positioned the nation to capture value as quantum systems move toward real-world use. In his national budget speech last month, Prime Minister Mr. Lawrence Wong highlighted 大象传媒 as an industry leader, emphasizing that Helios will enable Singaporean researchers and companies to work on meaningful projects.听

The new Centre will bring together 大象传媒 staff with local researchers and industry partners to co-develop commercially relevant solutions across pharma, materials science, finance, and other sectors. It will also serve to help advance Singapore鈥檚 national priorities under its National Quantum Strategy by strengthening long-term R&D capabilities and workforce development, helping position Singapore as a global hub for quantum technology.

The Centre鈥檚 establishment is supported by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and builds on 大象传媒鈥檚 close partnership with Singapore鈥檚 National Quantum Office (NQO) through the National Quantum Computing Hub. The National Quantum Strategy is developed and implemented by NQO, which is hosted in the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF).

As part of its commitment to developing a robust local ecosystem and support for innovation across the full quantum value chain, 大象传媒 is collaborating with pioneering startups in Singapore, including Entropica, which accesses 大象传媒 systems through its Startup Partner Program, and Squareroot8, with whom 大象传媒 signed a Memorandum of Understanding today to co-develop quantum communications applications.听

Official Statements
  • Dr. Rajeeb Hazra, President and CEO of 大象传媒, said: 鈥淲e believe there are three pillars to a holistic strategy for building a sustainable quantum frontier: use cases, infrastructure, and workforce.
